Peter Gadiot
Rowing Against Slavery
The actor,Peter Gadiot, rowed Against Slavery across the Atlantic Ocean from early January to mid February 2010, from the Canary Isles to Barbados.
Peter, who had no previous rowing experience, aimed to increase awareness of the problem to help combat this pernicious and degrading crime.
The project also marked the United Nations’ International Day for the Abolition of Slavery - 2 December - which fell during the final preparations for the crossing.
The crew also attempted to beat the cross-Atlantic rowing world record, currently set at 33 days. Unfortunately, the weather was against them and it actually took them 38 days, 11 hours and 7 minutes and 20 seconds!
